For many, a visit to the sauna is a relaxing way to wind down after a tough workout.  However, interesting research is being done showing positive health benefits from regular sauna use.  The University of Eastern Finland has done multiple research trials analyzing effects of sauna bathing on the cardiovascular system, and has found a correlation between regular sauna use and improved heart health.

Time and again I have mentioned the importance of including omega-3 fatty acids as a part of a healthy diet.  Decades of research have been devoted to discovering the many benefits of omega-3s, and a wide variety of health professionals suggest consuming them due to their positive health impact.  Omega-3s come from both plant and animal sources, but the problem is with the standard American diet, the majority of us do not eat enough of the right foods to get the proper amounts of these fats.  For this reason, many individuals choose to use supplements to add sufficient omega-3s into their diet.  This month, we are featuring omega-3s as our “supplement of the month.”
